Kee West Auto Carriers has acquired the auto hauling division of Wilride Transport, strengthening its vehicle transportation network and expanding its presence in Eastern Canada.

The transaction brings together Kee West’s coast-to-coast operations and an established auto hauling business based in Guelph, Ontario. It adds specialized transportation equipment, customer relationships and operational expertise to Kee West’s existing network.

The acquisition is expected to improve the company’s ability to serve automotive manufacturers, dealerships and commercial customers in Québec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada.

Expanding an established vehicle transportation network

For Kee West, the acquisition provides a way to increase capacity by bringing an existing operation into its business.

Auto hauling requires specialized equipment and careful coordination between carriers, vehicle suppliers and delivery destinations. Incorporating an established division gives Kee West additional resources and customer relationships to support its expansion.

The acquired operation will function under the Kee West Auto Carriers platform, connecting Wilride’s auto hauling activities with the company’s broader Canadian network.

Québec and Eastern Canada are a key focus

Left Lane Associates, which represented Wilride in the transaction, identified a stronger Eastern Canadian presence as a key outcome of the deal.

For customers moving vehicles across provincial markets, the reach of a carrier’s network is an important part of transportation planning. The acquisition adds capacity and an existing customer base to Kee West’s operations in the region.

Québec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada are among the markets the company expects to serve more effectively following the transaction.

Specific figures for additional trucks, new facilities or employment opportunities were not provided in the announcements reviewed.

Equipment, experience and customer relationships

An acquisition in this specialized sector involves more than transportation equipment. Existing customer relationships and operational knowledge also contribute to the value of an established auto hauling business.

Paul Stonkus, president and chief financial officer of Kee West Auto Carriers, described the transaction as an important step in the company’s growth. He highlighted Wilride’s complementary capabilities and operational expertise as strengths that will help Kee West serve its customers.

The deal gives Kee West an opportunity to build on those capabilities while integrating the acquired activities into its existing operations.

The transaction covers Wilride’s auto hauling division

The purchase concerns a specific part of Wilride Transport’s business.

Wilride also provides truckload, less-than-truckload and logistics services throughout Canada and into the United States. Those services are distinct from the auto hauling division involved in this transaction.

Kee West specializes in vehicle transportation for automotive manufacturers and dealerships through a Canadian network extending from coast to coast.

Left Lane Associates advised Wilride

Left Lane Associates served as Wilride Transport’s exclusive mergers and acquisitions advisor for the sale.

The firm publicly confirmed its involvement and said the transaction strengthens Kee West’s transportation capacity, customer base and Eastern Canadian footprint.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
