Mack Trucks on Tuesday reintroduced its Anthem model — this time repurposed as the OEM’s new regional haul tractor. Originally launched in 2017 to serve the long-haul market as a replacement for the Pinnacle axle-back, Anthem is now positioned for regional success, following the launch of Mack’s Pioneer model earlier this year.
“Fuel efficiency? Go with the Pioneer. Maneuverability? Go with the Anthem,” said Fernando Couceiro, Mack’s vice president of highway trucks.

Available in six wheelbases (16 to 19 feet), the new Anthem’s most notable update is a BBC (bumper-to-back-of-cab) length of 113.5 inches — 12 inches shorter than the Pioneer and 4 inches shorter than its own predecessor. With a 45-degree wheel cut, the Anthem’s turning radius is improved by 12%, while a redesigned three-piece hood boosts forward visibility by roughly 12 feet.
Aerodynamics also play a central role in its performance gains. Powertrain Sales Development Manager Kent Worthington highlighted the new roof design, side skirts, and sloped hood — all contributing to an estimated 10% increase in fuel efficiency over the previous model.
