The Government of Quebec has announced the highly anticipated return of the Écocamionnage subsidy program, unlocking $145.4 million in funding through 2028 to accelerate fleet electrification and the adoption of low-emission technologies across the heavy-vehicle sector.

For carriers, the renewed program represents a strategic opportunity to reduce long-term operating costs, modernize their assets, and contribute directly to the province’s environmental objectives.

Decision-making tools to support carriers

Investing in an electric truck or advanced low-emission equipment remains a significant financial decision. To help fleets choose wisely, new analytical tools now allow companies to:

Validate which equipment is best suited to their operational requirements;

Simulate real-world range based on routes, loads, temperature, and terrain;

Secure their investment through guidance from specialized, experienced advisors.

A Geotab-connected simulator for real-world predictions

One of the most innovative tools available is a simulator connected directly to Geotab data. By analyzing real operating data from diesel trucks, it can accurately forecast:

• The actual range expected from an electric truck;

• Battery capacity required for daily operations;

• Overall impacts on routes, productivity, and fleet planning.

Real-world testing: Sleeman tries an electric truck

As part of the Rechargeable Fleet – Heavy Trucks project, developed in partnership with Groupe Kenworth Montréal, Sleeman Breweries Ltd. tested a full-electric truck for an entire month.

This field trial allowed the company to collect operational data and evaluate the realistic potential of electrification within its distribution network.
