Nikola’s troubles continue to grow. Eight months after filing for Chapter 11, the bankrupt hydrogen and electric truck maker is now locked in a major legal fight with ITD Industries in Ontario.

At stake: a missing loaner truck, withheld equipment, unpaid warranty work—and a hydrogen station project that never operated, despite massive investment.

Nikola argues the dispute belongs in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, while ITD insists Canada has jurisdiction.

Two major companies are also caught in the crossfire: Walmart Canada, which returned its two Nikola Tre FCEVs, and Lucid Motors, unable to retrieve equipment it bought at auction because ITD is holding it through the dispute.

The situation highlights the harsh reality of hydrogen trucking: incomplete infrastructure, stalled projects, and high costs.

Canada’s hydrogen trucking ambitions just hit a major roadblock.
