Dryden, Ontario — Dryden OPP responded to a collision on Highway 17 involving a commercial motor vehicle. Due to heavy damage, the truck was escorted off the highway to maintain safety while officers cleared the scene.

Police say that after the scene was cleared, the driver chose to continue driving despite the vehicle being unsafe. Additional reports later came in describing a tractor-trailer being operated dangerously.

Officers located the same truck, now travelling with multiple flat tires, damaged rims, an inoperable door, and other serious defects, police reported. The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for operating an unsafe commercial motor vehicle and issued a future court date. The truck and trailer were towed from the roadway.

OPP emphasized that public safety comes first, urging anyone who witnesses unsafe driving to report it, noting that timely calls can help keep highways safer.
