The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) has named Bill Gordon of XTL Transport Inc. in Airdrie, Alberta, as its Driver of the Month for June 2025—a recognition that highlights not just a professional journey but a lifelong passion for trucking.

Bill’s career began long before he had a license. Riding along with his father as a child, he was immersed early in the world of transportation. Trucking runs deep in his family, with both his father and brother in the industry. Since officially starting in 1993, Bill has transitioned from local city work to long-haul trucking, building a reputation for reliability and dedication.

Over his decades on the road, he’s witnessed many shifts in the industry, but one major improvement stands out: the move from paper logbooks to electronic logging devices. According to Bill, that single change reshaped the way he drives.

Off the road, Bill has led a dynamic life. From playing baseball in his youth to competing in paintball tournaments and RC car racing, his competitive spirit has always been strong. These days, he’s more focused on family and his acreage, where yard work keeps him on his toes. A proud father of two and grandfather, Bill continues to embrace life with the same energy he brings to the road.

Now entering his fourth decade in the industry, Bill Gordon remains passionate about trucking. The independence, the open road, and the ability to manage his own time are what keep him going—mile after mile.
