Callao, Peru – August 2, 2025. Taiwan’s Evergreen Marine Corp., the largest container shipping company in Asia, confirmed that around 50 containers were lost overboard from its vessel Ever Lunarwhile it was anchored near Callao Port, Peru.

The vessel reportedly experienced severe rolling due to a series of high waves, likely caused by a tsunami triggered by an earthquake in Russia, coupled with harsh winter weather in South America.
All crew members are safe, and
No hazardous materials were in the lost containers.
The cargo primarily included plastic products, which pose no immediate threat to marine life.
