Arrest of a Brampton driver on Highway 401 in Milton: stolen vehicle and drugs seized

On September 3 at 12:20 p.m., a Highway Enforcement Team Ontario Provincial Police (HETOPP)officer received an ALPR (Automatic Licence Plate Recognition) alert for a stolen commercial vehicle traveling on Highway 401 in Milton.

The vehicle was promptly stopped, and the driver, a 47-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario, was arrested and taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected heroin, leading to further charges.
This case highlights the crucial role of technologies like ALPR in combating crime and ensuring the safety of Ontario’s highways.
