Fort Worth, TX — October 28, 2025 — Self-driving technology company Aurora Innovation, Inc. has officially launched its second fully driverless freight corridor, connecting Fort Worth to El Paso, Texas. The new 600-mile lane expands Aurora’s rapidly growing autonomous freight network and complements its existing Dallas–Houston route.
The company describes the move as “the fastest scaling to a second market” in the U.S. autonomous trucking industry.
Aurora CEO Chris Urmson emphasized that the new route targets one of trucking’s toughest challenges: the 10-hour Fort Worth–El Paso run, notorious for driver fatigue and persistent staffing shortages.
“Expanding to El Paso, surpassing 100,000 driverless miles, and integrating our new hardware across multiple truck platforms extends our strong lead,” Urmson said.
To date, Aurora has logged over 100,000 incident-free driverless miles, maintaining what it calls a “perfect safety and on-time record.”
In 2026, the company plans to deploy hundreds of next-generation autonomous trucks, powered by its upgraded Aurora Driver platform, designed for seamless integration with several major truck manufacturers.
Texas corridors remain key testing grounds for proving the commercial viability of driverless freight, promising shorter delivery times, higher efficiency, and a solution to the nationwide driver shortage.
Aurora officials say the success of the El Paso lane will serve as a blueprint for future interstate expansions, beginning with Arizona and California.
