The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has announced that Brake Safety Week will take place August 24-30, 2025, across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This annual campaign promotes safer roads by targeting commercial motor vehicle brake systems inspections and raising awareness about brake safety.

This year’s focus will be on brake drums and rotors. These components are critical to braking efficiency, and damaged or broken parts can dislodge during travel, posing serious risks to surrounding vehicles and road users.

Throughout the week, law enforcement officers will conduct roadside inspections. Any vehicle found with out-of-service brake violations or other major defects will be removed from service until repairs are made.

Brake Safety Week also includes educational efforts directed at drivers, mechanics, carriers, and owner-operators to ensure proper brake maintenance and understanding of the risks involved.

The initiative is part of a broader mission to reduce roadway crashes and enhance safety across North America.
