Vaughan, ON — A 32-year-old man from Brampton is facing a charge of careless driving after a serious friday crash that shut down lanes on Highway 400 southbound.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. Friday when a dump truck traveling south on Highway 400 struck the Langstaff Road overpass with its box raised. The impact tore the dump box completely off the truck, scattering debris across the roadway and causing visible damage to the concrete bridge structure.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported. However, the southbound collectors’ lanes and a nearby on-ramp remain closed as engineers evaluate the extent of the damage and determine the safety of the overpass.

Police said the closures could remain in effect for an extended period while repairs are completed. Motorists are being urged to plan alternate routes and expect delays throughout the day.
