Caledon — At a time when the trucking industry is facing growing concerns over accidents, infractions, and drivers operating illegally, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has demonstrated firm enforcement.
During just two traffic stops in Caledon, officers laid 11 Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)–related charges. Offenses included failing to stop at a red light, no brake lights, no directional signals, failure to record defects in daily inspection reports, failure to surrender permits, and operating without proper inspections.

These charges highlight the risks posed when basic safety standards are ignored. With the industry under intense scrutiny, the OPP has reaffirmed its commitment to road safety through enforcement and public education.
For many in the trucking sector, such actions are welcome, especially at a time when illegal practices and poor compliance continue to erode public trust and compromise safety on Canadian highways.
