HALTON HILLS, Ont. — A transport truck driver from Cambridge has died following a medical emergency that caused a crash in the Hornby area on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the incident occurred around 12:35 p.m. at the intersection of Steeles Avenue and Trafalgar Road, in Halton Hills. The truck struck a roadside sign after the driver suffered a sudden medical episode while behind the wheel.

The driver, a 57-year-old man from Cambridge, was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that a medical emergency was the cause of the collision. Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved, and the incident is not being treated as a criminal matter.

The crash temporarily disrupted traffic in the area as emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene near Hornby.

Authorities are reminding drivers to seek medical attention and report health concerns that could affect their ability to operate a vehicle safely.
