Detached Wheels Cause Hazard on Hwy 17 near Waldhof

Dryden, ON — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a hazardous situation on Highway 17 near Waldhof after a set of wheels detached from a commercial motor vehicle.

Officers determined the incident was caused by a bearing failure on one of the trailer’s axles.

Following their investigation, charges have been laid:

• Driver: Operating a CMV with a major defect and with a detached part.

• Company: Permitting the operation of an unsafe CMV and failing to meet performance standards.
