Ivy Lea, Ontario – As of the week of May 12, 2025, the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA) and the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) have resumed the final phase of rehabilitation work on the Canadian span of the Thousand Islands International Bridge.
This stage of the project focuses on covering the west main cable, with minimal impact on traffic flow. Nighttime single-lane closures will occur between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., while full daytime access will be maintained, ensuring that cross-border travel remains uninterrupted.
The work is expected to produce minimal noise, as it involves the installation of protective coverings over existing construction materials. However, pedestrian and cyclist access to the Canadian span will remain closed during the entire construction period.
This project highlights a joint commitment to infrastructure modernization and safe, sustainable travel between Canada and the United States.
