Guelph, September 5, 2025 – Commercial vehicle safety was under the spotlight in Guelph last Friday, as a large-scale inspection blitz saw 41 per cent of trucks removed from service for various violations.

The Guelph Police Service led the initiative, joined by Waterloo Regional Police, Halton Regional Police, London Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Ministry of Finance, and the Canada Border Services Agency.

In total, 34 trucks were inspected, 14 were taken off the road, and nearly four dozen charges were laid.

“Road safety has been identified as one of the Guelph Police Service’s top priorities in our latest Strategic Plan. The results of this blitz highlight the ongoing need for proactive enforcement to protect the public from unsafe vehicles,” said Inspector Andrew Goody.
