Lake Louise, Alta. – From October 7 to 9, 2025, Lake Louise RCMP, supported by Banff RCMP, Alberta RCMP Traffic, Alberta Sheriffs, and Alberta Transportation, carried out a major commercial vehicle inspection operation within Banff National Park.
The goal was to ensure commercial vehicles were safe and compliant with both provincial and federal regulations. Alberta Sheriffs provided several specially trained commercial vehicle and motorcoach inspectors to assist.
Over 50 commercial vehicles were inspected, yielding the following results:
•23 vehicles (43%) passed inspection — most were buses and motorcoaches;
•22 vehicles (42%) required attention;
•8 vehicles (15%) were placed out of service;
•17 tickets were issued.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe on our roads,” said Sergeant Susan Richter, Detachment Commander of Lake Louise RCMP.
“By educating commercial operators and enforcing safety standards, we’re helping reduce risks and promote safer travel across our communities.”
This joint enforcement initiative underscores the ongoing commitment to road safety and the importance of interagency cooperation in protecting drivers, passengers, and the public across Alberta’s highways.
