Major Roadwork on Second Blue Water Bridge Starting September 15

PORT HURON, MI – Travelers heading to Canada via the Blue Water Bridge should prepare for delays. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced that major pavement rehabilitation work will begin Monday, September 15, 2025, on the eastbound span of the second Blue Water Bridge.


According to MDOT, the project is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2025. During this time:

Only one lane will remain open on the eastbound span.

Vehicles wider than 14 feet will not be permitted.

• The westbound span toward the United States will not be affected.


Authorities are advising both truckers and motorists to plan ahead and expect possible delays during the construction period.
