Montreal, June 2, 2025 — Quebec’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will fully close Highway 40 East (Metropolitan) between the Côte-de-Liesse Interchange and Highway 15 (Laurentian) for major repaving work from Friday, June 6 at 11:30 p.m. to Monday, June 9 at 5 a.m. Motorists should expect significant congestion and are strongly advised to avoid the area.

The closure includes several on-ramps and connecting ramps, including those from Cavendish Blvd., A-520 East, Marcel-Laurin Blvd., and Sainte-Croix Ave., as well as major exits like Stinson, Rockland, Acadie, and St-Laurent. Traffic will be rerouted via the Côte-de-Liesse service road.

Recommended detours include Highways 13, 440, 20, and 30. Should weather or operational issues arise, the work will be postponed. The ministry notes that at least one additional weekend of major closures on eastbound A-40 is planned, with details to follow.
