QUEBEC CITY, September 5, 2025 – Liberal MNA for Nelligan and Official Opposition critic for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Monsef Derraji, is ramping up pressure on the CAQ government for its inaction on the controversial “Driver Inc.” scheme.
Despite a first petition, a unanimously adopted motion, and the tabling of Bill 899, the CAQ has yet to act. To maintain momentum, Derraji has agreed to sponsor a second petition, initiated by the group “Enough is Enough – Save the Trucking Industry”, which is now open for signatures on the National Assembly’s website.
The petition calls for:
• Eliminating illegal truck drivers from Quebec’s roads;
• Stronger inspections and enforcement;
• Higher training standards for drivers;
• Clear measures from the Transport Minister to ensure road safety and fairness.
“The Minister doesn’t seem to grasp the urgency of this matter. This is not only a question of fairness for workers but, above all, a matter of safety for all road users. Law-abiding truckers have had enough,” said Derraji, pointing out that some groups are planning “Infernal Mondays” traffic slowdowns as a last resort to be heard.
The petition is available until October 20, 2025: https://bit.ly/4mMpmzr
