Warren County, Ohio – On July 29, 2025, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, alongside officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), announced a major investment of $150 million to build 1,400 additional truck parking spaces at multiple sites across the state.

The announcement took place at the I-71 southbound rest area in Warren County, where Governor DeWine emphasized the safety aspect of the plan: addressing the truck parking shortage that often leads to driver fatigue, unsafe roadside stops, and preventable crashes.

Ohio currently offers about 14,200 truck parking spaces, mostly located at privately operated truck stops or commercial properties. The new state-backed plan will expand parking availability in dozens of public locations, strategically chosen to serve key freight corridors.

“This is more than just infrastructure — it’s about keeping truckers and all road users safe,” said DeWine.
