Yesterday, officers from the Whitby OPP joined forces with the Peterborough OPP and Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation (ONtransport) to carry out a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) inspection initiative in Douro-Drummer, Ontario.

The goal was clear: ensure that every vehicle operating on provincial roads is safe, compliant, and fit for service. Over the course of the day, 13 commercial vehicles were inspected, leading to 17 charges issued and 4 vehicles placed out of service for serious infractions.

Authorities emphasized that road safety is everyone’s responsibility, especially within the heavy-vehicle sector where mechanical condition, load security, and driver compliance can mean the difference between safety and tragedy.

This joint enforcement effort is part of an ongoing provincial crackdown on unsafe commercial carriers and training schools. It sends a clear message that non-compliance will not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, questions continue to arise across provincial borders — “The cleanup continues in Ontario… when will Québec follow suit?”
