Yesterday, members of the Whitby OPP partnered with Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) in Beaverton for a large-scale commercial motor vehicle inspection initiative.
The results of the 37 inspections carried out were striking:
•19 vehicles placed out of service due to dangerous conditions.
•71 charges issued.
•3 license plates removed for unfit conditions.
This initiative highlights the value of collaboration between police and transportation authorities to keep Ontario’s roads safe. Officials emphasize that commercial drivers and operators must comply with safety regulations to protect everyone on the road.
