Toronto, ON — Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has issued retesting orders to some A/Z licence holders after irregularities were uncovered during an audit of a driver testing provider.

According to a letter obtained by Truck News:
“Due to irregularities discovered during an audit of your test provider, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) cannot verify that your A/Z knowledge and road tests were conducted to Ontario standards.”
Impacted drivers must:
• Complete a vision and knowledge test within 60 days, and
• Pass a road test within 120 days, at an official DriveTest center.
Truck News has confirmed that at least two drivers received the letter — one of whom has been working in cross-border trucking for the past year. A truck driving school operator also reported that two drivers came in to refresh their skills for the road test.
An MTO official told Truck News that audits are conducted regularly to ensure training providers meet provincial standards:
“An audit found that knowledge and road tests may not have been conducted in accordance with MTO standards. We are requiring affected drivers to retest to ensure public safety and licensing integrity.”
