Professional Driver Named TCA Highway Angel for Performing CPR During Roadside Emergency

The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has recognized Oleksandr Tkachuk, an independent contractor from Edmonton, Alberta, as a Highway Angel for assisting during a medical emergency.

While driving near Hardisty, Tkachuk noticed a vehicle pulled over and a young man lying on the ground. His younger brother was attempting CPR but was clearly struggling.

Trained in CPR, Tkachuk immediately pulled over and took charge. With 911 dispatchers on the line, he performed chest compressions for nearly 20 minutes until emergency services arrived.

“I was trained in CPR and was hoping I wouldn’t have to use it in my life,” Tkachuk said, “but I needed to.”

Tkachuk works as an owner-operator for Trimac Transportation, based in Calgary. His swift, selfless actions exemplify the best of the professional driving community.
