Volvo Trucks North America has officially opened orders for the all-new Volvo VNR, a Class 8 truck purpose-built for regional and urban haul. Now available at Volvo Trucks dealerships across the U.S. and Canada, production will kick off in February 2026 at the New River Valley Plant in Virginia.

With a 90 percent redesign from the previous generation, the new VNR delivers up to 7.5 percent improved fuel economy through enhanced aerodynamics, advanced powertrain features, and idle-shutdown systems. It also debuts industry-first safety innovations, including integrated side curtain airbags, making it the safest regional truck Volvo has ever produced.
“The street-smart VNR is a true workhorse designed for the challenges of regional and urban delivery—tight turns, heavy traffic, fuel costs, and safety risks,” said Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America.
Regional haul is on the rise, fueled by booming e-commerce and tight delivery schedules. The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) reports that nearly 45 percent of today’s Class 8 tractors are day cabs, with many serving regional operations.
The VNR also brings advanced connectivity via Volvo Connect and the My Truck app, an ergonomically designed interior, upgraded sleeper options, and flexible configurations (4x2, 6x2, 6x4, and straight trucks).
