Serious Collision and Fire Shuts Down Highway 401 in Kingston

(Kingston, ON) – The Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on the scene of a serious vehicle collision and fire on Highway 401 in Kingston.


Shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, OPP officers and emergency services responded to a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck in the westbound lanes. Authorities confirmed that life-threatening injuries have been reported.


The westbound lanes of Highway 401 will remain closed for several hours between Highway 32 in Gananoque and Montreal Street in Kingston. Minor roadway repairs may be required before reopening.
