This past weekend, a major milestone was reached in the ongoing work on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge. Shoring operations, critical to the stability of the structure, have been completed. The system was fully loaded under the bridge, and the final super-beams were successfully installed.
Still, despite this key progress, drivers will have to wait before a fifth traffic lane can reopen. The Ministry of Transport emphasized that repair work is ongoing and that the complexity of the operation leaves no room for compromise when it comes to the safety of both workers and road users.
Regular inspections are being carried out. Depending on findings, additional interventions may be required, which could affect the reopening schedule. For now, no date has been announced.
The Ministry has shared striking images of the interventions, showcasing the scale and complexity of this critical infrastructure project for the Greater Montreal region.
