International Motors is taking the next step in self-driving freight with the launch of customer fleet trials using its second-generation autonomous trucks.
In partnership with PlusAI, International will pilot its autonomous International® LT® tractor between Laredo and Dallas (I-35) with select fleets, managed from its San Antonio autonomous hub.
The truck, powered by the S13® Integrated Powertrain, comes with the latest SuperDrive™ AI-based software from PlusAI. Trained on real-world data, SuperDrive adapts to different routes and conditions. A multimodal sensor suite – imaging radar, lidar, and cameras – provides 360-degree visibility to ensure safety and reliability.
“This pilot program is a major step toward seamless digital operations designed to deliver an exceptional customer experience,” said Tobias Glitterstam, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer.
The trials are part of International and PlusAI’s commitment to bringing scalable, factory-installed autonomous solutions to hub-to-hub freight operations. Customer input will help refine the system for wider adoption.
“Deep customer collaboration is essential to understanding how autonomy can optimize freight routes, enhance safety, and lower costs,” said James Cooper, Director of Autonomous Business Development.
With fleet trials underway, International reinforces its mission to transform logistics through safe, efficient, and commercially viable autonomous trucking.
