Restored 1984 Mack R Model Walk-Around
IT’S REVEAL DAY!! I am overwhelmed with emotions as this project comes to an end. I am so proud of the outcome and so thankful for everyone who came together to make this 1984 R Model Mack restoration a success, but the shop feels so empty without it. Guess I’ll just have to buy another truck to restore!! A huge thank you to Mack Trucks and Doug Money, curator of the Mack Trucks Historical Museum for collaborating on this project, being patient with me when life got tough, and giving me the opportunity to leave my own legacy with Mack trucks on display for all to see. If you are interested in contacting the museum, you can do so with this link: https://www.macktruckshistoricalmuseum.org/contact-us/ If you are interested in donating to the museum, you can do so here: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=5SH4NMRQBKU72&ssrt=1703262278017 Thank you to the companies and businesses that donated parts. Merritt Aluminum for the toolboxes, Road Choice for the quarter fenders, Laura Hagedorn of R&L Metalworks for the step frames, and Advantage Paint and Body Supplies for the paint and paint supplies. Most importantly, I want to thank Gavin for allowing me to take over his shop for over a year, staying up way too late with me to paint it, not getting mad at me when I wanted to repaint it (we ended up painting it three times), letting me rob parts off of his R Model, being my shoulder to cry on when things didn’t go how I planned, and all-in-all being the encouragement I needed to take on a project of this magnitude. None of this would’ve been possible without him and I wish he knew just how much it all means to me. Garrett and Brinley, thank you for staying late night after night to help pull this truck together and making sure that no detail went overlooked. To my little brothers and sister for taking care of my dogs and chickens while I was gone for weeks at a time working on this truck. Shoutout to my momma for always checking in on the progress and reassuring me that the time away from home would all be worth it. She was right, per usual. And lastly, THANK YOU to all of you watching for making this opportunity possible, interacting with my videos, and being so supportive and insightful when I needed help! This has truly been one of the coolest things I’ve ever done and I’m excited to see what’s in store next.
