Volvo Trucks has delivered 125 VNL trucks to Highlight Motor Group, marking the largest order to date in Canada for Volvo’s new flagship model.

The Volvo VNL 860s will join Highlight Motor Group’s fleet, which operates long-haul routes across North America.

Safety and driver comfort were central to Highlight’s choice of Volvo, as the trucking industry continues to face challenges in driver recruitment and retention. The company refreshes its vehicles every four to five years, maintaining one of the youngest fleets in the industry — with most trucks already being Volvos.

“Highlight Motor Group has been a strong long-term partner to Volvo Trucks, and this order is a clear demonstration of their commitment to safety, efficiency, and their drivers,” said Matthew Blackman, Managing Director, Canada, Volvo Trucks North America.

Engineered for long-haul excellence, the new Volvo VNL delivers up to a 10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation, thanks to refined aerodynamics and advanced powertrain updates. The truck incorporates hundreds of enhancements aimed at improving productivity, profitability, safety, and sustainability — while offering a redesigned driver environment that makes life on the road easier and more comfortable.

Key safety features of the Volvo VNL 860 include Volvo Active Driver Assist Plus, lane keep support, pedestrian detection, and automated emergency braking.

In 2025, the Volvo VNL earned the prestigious Red Dot Award for Product Design in the commercial vehicles category, reinforcing its position as a benchmark for innovation and design excellence.
