Cheyenne, Wyoming — October 1, 2025. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) announced that 25 deputies, along with Sheriff Brian Kozak, have been officially sworn in by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to enforce immigration laws under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
This new agreement allows deputies to take on federal responsibilities, with a mission focused on combating human trafficking, drug trafficking, and identifying unlicensed or undocumented commercial vehicle operators along Interstates 25 and 80 in Wyoming.
Sheriff Kozak highlighted that deputies will specifically target unlicensed and undocumented semi-truck drivers. According to LCSO, more than 130,000 truck drivers nationwide are believed to be undocumented and operating without valid CDLs. “Unsafe, unlicensed, and undocumented truckers in this county will go to jail,” Kozak declared.
The Laramie County Jail has also been approved by ICE to house immigration detainees awaiting deportation. LCSO insists these measures aim to protect communities and ensure highway safety by keeping only licensed and authorized drivers on the road.
